MEETING REWIND:
Tuesday June 23, 2009
We were fortunate to have two nationally recognized speakers, Dr. Todd Sawisch and Dr. Avi Schetritt. This dynamic duo fed off each others energy and had complimentary topics.
Dr. Avi Schetritt is a Board Certified Periodontist, who jumpstarted this meeting with some outstanding case presentations. Dr. Avi (as he likes to be called) explained why grafting is performed, and what the theory is behind it. He illustrated advances in gingival grafting techniques that are minimally invasive and produce seriously aesthetic results! Dr. Avi displayed a “tunneling technique” that left the room in awe.
Following Dr. Avi was Dr. Todd Sawisch, a Board Certified Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon. Dr. Sawisch had a presentation on laser utilization in the surgical practice, that left the audience speechless. This was second only to the amazing and very predictable results from his dental implant surgeries. There was talk of plasma rich growth factors, that aid in healing. This topic could have been a meeting in itself…it's mind-blowing!!
There was an abundance of new information and the audience seemed to enjoy it with the great voracity.
Both speakers exhibited their prowess in their respective specialty and truth be told; the fact that a laser can decontaminate a periodontal pocket or be used in almost any surgery with minimal bleeding and faster healing, or that a gingival graft can be performed virtually without discomfort and not to mention, now dental implant surgery can be done “virtually” and have predictable results within 2mm, really is quite impressive. This was an unbelievable meeting that left us excited about dentistry and ready to take on the world, or at least Broward County.
As if that wasn't enough, all attendees received free stuff AND 4 more FREE CEU's by Novalar!!!
